Tomato Onion Chutney Recipe: We all get bored of eating the same type of vegetables every day and start feeling like eating something spicy. In such a situation, I don’t know what to make today so that everyone feels like eating it.
If you are also thinking the same thing, then you can make spicy tomato-onion chutney. This chutney is very easy to make and does not require any special ingredients. You can easily make it with tomatoes, onions and local spices kept in the kitchen.

Material
- Tomato – 3 (medium, chopped)
- Onion – 1 (medium, coarsely chopped)
- Green chilli – 1-2
- Garlic – 4-5 cloves
- Dry red chilli – 1-2
- Oil – 1–2 tbsp
- Mustard – ½ tsp
- Cumin – ½ tsp
- Salt – as per taste
- Asafoetida – a pinch

Method
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let it crackle. Then add asafoetida. Now add garlic, dry red chilli and green chilli and fry lightly.
- After this add chopped onions and fry till they become soft. Now add tomatoes and salt. Cover and cook for 5–7 minutes, until the tomatoes are cooked well.
- Turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down a bit. Now grind it in the mixer as coarse or smooth as you like.
- This chutney tastes delicious with roti, paratha, dosa, idli or plain rice. If you add a little mustard oil on top, the taste increases even more.
