Liverpool defender Wellity Lucky is set to be out of action for at least two months after sustaining a hamstring injury, dealing another setback to Arne Slot's defensive options.
The Spain-born England youth international, who celebrated his 20th birthday earlier this month, made his senior bow for the Reds in October's 3-0 Carabao Cup loss to Crystal Palace, and has been named as an unused substitute in five Premier League fixtures.
Lucky, who has caught the eye for Liverpool in this season's UEFA Youth League, was unlikely to feature in the starting XI for any forthcoming matches. However, his absence, as initially revealed by The Athletic, arrives at a time when Liverpool are without four senior defensive players.

Giovanni Leoni, the summer recruit from Parma, sustained an ACL injury on his Reds debut in September and has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign, whilst right-back Conor Bradley's season is also finished after suffering a knee injury in the goalless stalemate at Arsenal.
Wataru Endo, who stepped in for Gomez at Bournemouth, could be called upon to fill a centre-back position if necessary, while Ryan Gravenberch has occasionally been deployed in that role by Arne Slot.
Despite initial discussions about a potential move, left-back Andrew Robertson is now not anticipated to make a switch to Tottenham Hotspur this month, while Kostas Tsimikas continues his loan spell at Roma.
Marc Guehi, whose proposed summer transfer from Crystal Palace to Liverpool fell through at the last minute, has now signed with Manchester City. However, as it stands, Liverpool have no further plans to bring in a defender during the January transfer window.
