Gram flour cheela is one such easy and healthy dish, which children and adults eat with enthusiasm. Made from gram flour, this cheela is rich in protein, fiber and essential nutrients. It is a great option as a breakfast, tiffin or a light meal and can be prepared deliciously with less oil.

necessary materials

  • Gram flour – 1 cup
  • Onion finely chopped – 1
  • Tomato finely chopped – 1
  • Green chilli finely chopped – 1
  • Grated ginger – 1 tsp
  • Green coriander chopped – 2 teaspoons
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – as per taste
  • Celery – ½ teaspoon
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Water – as per requirement
  • Oil – for baking

Method to make Besan Chilla

Take gram flour in a big vessel and add salt, turmeric, red chilli and celery and mix well. Now add onion, tomato, green chilli, ginger and green coriander. Prepare a thick but flowable batter by adding water slowly. Heat the pan and apply a little oil. Now pour a ladle of batter on the pan and spread it in a round shape. Cook on medium flame until golden and crisp on both sides.

Tips for making crisps

Do not keep the solution too thin. Let the pan heat well and be patient while turning the cheela. If you want, you can add some semolina or rice flour to add more crispness.
