DMK Ministers : Four senior ministers from Tamil Nadu took part in a closed-door consultative meeting with booth-level agents and district secretaries of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) at Yelagiri Hills in Tirupattur district, as the party steps up preparations for Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s upcoming interaction with grassroots workers scheduled for February 14.

DMK Ministers : Hold Strategy Talks Ahead of Stalin’s Booth-Level Interaction

Preparations Linked to Chief Minister’s Tirupattur Visit

The meeting was convened ahead of the Chief Minister’s proposed visit to Mandalavadi village in Tirupattur taluk, where a large gathering of party representatives is expected. According to party functionaries, booth-level agents and booth committee members from 41 Assembly constituencies across Tamil Nadu are likely to attend the interaction, making it one of the party’s significant organisational exercises in recent months.

Venue and Leadership of the Consultative Session

Held at a private resort near Athanavur in the Yelagiri Hills, the discussions were chaired by Public Works and Highways Minister E.V. Velu. He was joined by Handlooms and Textiles Minister R. Gandhi, Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Chakrapani, and Tourism Minister T. Rajendran. With their participation, the number of ministers attending the meeting stood at four.

In addition to the ministers, 71 DMK district secretaries from various regions of the state were present, reflecting the scale and importance attached to the preparatory talks.

Focus on Logistics and Event Planning

Sources familiar with the discussions said the primary focus of the meeting was to finalise arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit and to plan a large-scale reception on February 14. The event is reportedly being designed to resemble a political conference rather than a routine party gathering, with detailed attention given to stage management, crowd coordination, and overall logistics.

Party leaders are said to have reviewed transportation arrangements, accommodation, security coordination, and the sequencing of events to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.

Strengthening Grassroots Organisation

Beyond logistical planning, the meeting also served as a platform to assess and reinforce the party’s booth-level organisational structure. Discussions centred on improving coordination between district units and booth committees, addressing gaps in communication, and ensuring that local cadres remain actively engaged.

Leaders examined ways to mobilise party workers more effectively and to strengthen grassroots outreach, particularly in view of upcoming political activities and future electoral exercises.

Review of Cadre Engagement Strategies

Participants also exchanged views on strategies to deepen engagement with booth-level agents, who play a crucial role in voter outreach and campaign execution. Emphasis was placed on maintaining regular contact with cadres, streamlining reporting mechanisms, and enhancing preparedness at the local level.

Senior leaders reportedly underlined the importance of discipline, coordination, and consistent messaging to sustain organisational momentum across constituencies.

DMK Reiterates Opposition to Hindi Imposition

Separately, DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai on Monday reiterated the party’s opposition to what it describes as the imposition of Hindi. Speaking to ANI, he expressed agreement with recent remarks by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin opposing the promotion of Hindi at the expense of regional languages.

Annadurai argued that the growing dominance of Hindi has coincided with a decline in the use of other Indian languages, including Odia, Bihari, Rajasthani, and Gujarati. He said such trends risk marginalising linguistic communities and eroding cultural identities, adding that language policies should respect India’s diversity rather than impose uniformity.

Broader Political Context

The twin developments highlight the DMK’s continued focus on organisational consolidation at the grassroots level while maintaining its long-standing political stance on language and federal principles. Party leaders believe that strong booth-level networks and clear ideological positions remain central to sustaining public engagement across Tamil Nadu.
