Participation in Republic Day Observances

Madrasas in Mumbai were actively involved in Republic Day programs, organizing ceremonies that brought together students, teachers, and local residents. The focus remained on unity, civic duty, and respect for the Constitution. Students took pledges emphasizing social responsibility and the importance of contributing positively to a nation of more than 1.4 billion people. Such observances underscored the alignment of religious educational institutions with national celebrations and public life.

Educational Achievements of Jamia Tajwidul Quran Madrasa

One of the institutions participating in these celebrations was the Jamia Tajwidul Quran Madrasa in the Malad–Malwani area of Mumbai. Operated under the Noor Meher Education Trust, the madrasa has, over the years, produced more than 160 students who have memorized the Quran. Several of these graduates have gone on to work as teachers in colleges and universities, reflecting the institution’s emphasis on disciplined learning and academic progression.

Blending Religious and Modern Curriculum

The madrasa is designed as a center that combines traditional Islamic studies with modern education. Alongside Quranic instruction, students are taught subjects such as mathematics, science, social science, and English. This integrated approach aims to equip students with a broad academic foundation while preserving religious education. By offering both streams within the same campus, the institution seeks to prepare students for higher education and professional opportunities.

Focus on Communication and Critical Thinking

In line with its modern outlook, the madrasa regularly organizes activities that encourage public speaking and critical thinking. During its recent annual function, students participated in an English-language debate competition that drew around 40 participants. The topic focused on the importance of modern education within madrasas in India, allowing students to express their views confidently on stage. Such initiatives are intended to strengthen communication skills and foster informed discussion among young learners.

History and Support Structure of the Institution

Established in 2001, the madrasa was founded in Mumbai by the Noor Meher charitable trust, which also manages an Urdu high school. The trust provides financial support to ensure that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds can access education. Admissions are offered with a focus on inclusivity, enabling children from low-income families to pursue both religious and general studies without financial burden.

Campus Environment and Administration

The madrasa operates from a bungalow located in the Malvani area of Malad, offering a clean and organized learning environment. The campus is managed by Sayyed Ali Hussain and his wife, who oversee its day-to-day functioning. Funding for operations comes from their personal contributions as well as community donations in the form of zakat and sadqaat. This structure allows the institution to remain community-supported while maintaining educational standards.

Recognizing Young Academic Milestones

Among the recent highlights at the madrasa was the recognition of its youngest Hafiz-e-Quran, a student who completed memorization at the age of seven. The achievement was celebrated during a recent event, drawing attention to the dedication of students and teachers alike. Such milestones are seen as a reflection of the institution’s teaching methods and supportive learning environment.

Broader Role in National Development

Through its academic programs and civic participation, the madrasa positions itself as part of India’s broader educational landscape. By combining faith-based learning with modern subjects and encouraging engagement with national values, it contributes to social development and nation-building in a practical and inclusive manner.
