High blood pressure is called a silent killer because it slowly damages the body without causing any significant symptoms until the symptoms become apparent.

Why is high blood pressure occurring at the age of 30?

High blood pressure, or hypertension, was once considered a disease of the elderly or middle-aged. People thought it only occurred after the age of 50 or 60. But today, this perception has completely changed. The shocking truth is that even young people in their 20s and 30s are now suffering from high blood pressure, and the most alarming thing is that many of them are unaware that their blood pressure has increased.

High blood pressure is called a silent killer because it slowly damages the body without any specific symptoms. By the time its symptoms become apparent, it has already damaged the heart, kidneys, brain, and eyes. This raises the question of whether high blood pressure in your 30s is normal or a sign of a more serious illness.

What is high blood pressure?

When the blood pressure in our arteries is consistently higher than normal, it's called high blood pressure, or hypertension. Blood pressure readings are measured in two numbers: systolic pressure, when the heart pumps blood, and diastolic pressure, when the heart is at rest. High blood pressure is considered if the systolic blood pressure is 140 mmHg or higher, or the diastolic blood pressure is 90 mmHg or higher.

Is high blood pressure normal at the age of 30?

High blood pressure at age 30 is not considered normal at all. It's a sign that your lifestyle is going in the wrong direction. Your body is experiencing internal stress. This can increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, or kidney problems in the future. Therefore, after age 30, everyone should have their blood pressure checked at least 1-2 times a year. If there's a family history of high blood pressure, one should be even more vigilant. Timely testing can prevent serious problems like heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, vision loss, and premature aging.

Why is high blood pressure occurring at age 30?

Today's modern lifestyle is the biggest reason for this. According to doctors and health experts, there are many reasons behind high blood pressure in young people. Nowadays, young people spend hours looking at mobile phones and laptops, stay up late at night, do not get enough sleep, and do very little physical activity; all these things contribute to increased blood pressure. Career pressure, job worries, financial tensions, and relationship complications – constant stress releases hormones in the body that increase blood pressure.

Today's diet, which includes excess salt, excess oil, fast food, packaged snacks, and sugary drinks, gradually increases blood pressure. Weight gain forces the heart to work harder, leading to higher blood pressure. Belly fat is considered a major indicator of high blood pressure. Cigarettes, tobacco, and excessive alcohol harden the arteries, increasing pressure on the heart, which can lead to increased blood pressure at a young age. Sleeping for 4–5 hours daily has become commonplace. Lack of sleep prevents the body from repairing properly, impacting blood pressure.
