In the midst of the Shankaracharya controversy, Prashant Kumar Singh, the GST Commissioner in Ayodhya, has stepped down from his position in support of the Uttar Pradesh government. His resignation comes as a response to the statements made by Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand. Singh expressed that government officials are not mere robots and cannot remain silent when their government is under attack. He criticized Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand for making baseless allegations against the Chief Minister, stating that remaining silent in such circumstances was unacceptable to him.

Singh stated, "I resigned to support the government and oppose Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand. I have been deeply hurt by the unfounded accusations against our Chief Minister and Prime Minister over the past two days... I have certain moral responsibilities towards the government that pays my salary... Upon witnessing the disrespect towards my Chief Minister and Prime Minister, I submitted my resignation letter to the Governor."

Meanwhile, Alankar Agnihotri, the city magistrate of Bareilly, also resigned on Monday, expressing his dissatisfaction with government policies, particularly the new regulations from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the ongoing Shankaracharya controversy. Agnihotri, an officer from the 2019 Provincial Civil Services (PCS) batch, sent his resignation via email to the Governor and the Bareilly District Magistrate, Avinash Singh.

Sources indicate that Agnihotri cited his deep disagreement with government policies, especially the new UGC rules, as the reason for his resignation. A resident of Kanpur Nagar, Agnihotri has previously served as SDM in several districts, including Unnao, Balrampur, and Lucknow, and is known for his clear opinions and strict working style. After participating in the Republic Day celebrations, Agnihotri spoke to reporters, mentioning that two significant reprehensible incidents in the past two weeks had deeply shaken him.
