The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN):The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) has become a major source of financial support for millions of farmers across the country. So far, the government has successfully transferred 21 installments to farmers' accounts, and now everyone is eagerly awaiting the 22nd installment. According to reports, this amount could be transferred to farmers' bank accounts sometime in February 2026.
But this time, the government has significantly tightened the rules. If you want your 2,000 rupees to arrive without any hassles, you need to understand the circumstances under which farmers are being excluded from this scheme.
Whose installments may get stuck?
The government has made it clear that only those farmers who have completed their paperwork will receive the money. Here are some of the main reasons due to which the installment can be stuck:
Incomplete e-KYC: If you have not yet updated your e-KYC, your installment will definitely be stuck. You can complete this by visiting the PM Kisan portal through OTP or through biometrics at the nearest CSC center.
Land Seeding is pending:
In the status of many farmers, 'No' is written against 'Land Seeding'. This means that your land records have not yet been verified in the government database. Without this, it is impossible to get the money.
Aadhaar and bank account not linked: Your bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar and have the DBT option enabled. If the name spelling is different in your Aadhaar and bank details, the money may be blocked.
New Farmer ID Rule: The government has mandated a new Farmer ID starting in 2026. This is a unique digital identity linked to your land records. Farmers who don't have this ID may face problems receiving their next installment.
Who are ineligible for this scheme?
The scheme's benefits should only be available to those who are truly eligible. The department is continuously weeding out ineligible individuals. If you fall into the following categories, you will not receive the installment:
- Any member of the family pays income tax.
- Someone in the family should be in government service or a retired employee (except multi-tasking staff).
- Those who get monthly pension of more than Rs 10,000.
- People who have held constitutional posts or are professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers.
- Both husband and wife cannot benefit from this scheme. Only one person per family is eligible.
What to do if the installment is stopped?
If your previous installment hasn't arrived or you want to check your status, go to 'pmkisan.gov.in'. Click on the 'Know Your Status' option and enter your registration number. If the e-KYC, land seeding, and Aadhaar bank account status are marked 'Yes' and have a green tick, you don't need to worry.
If there's a problem with land seeding, immediately consult your local Patwari or Lekhpal. If there's a problem with e-KYC, you can also complete it using face authentication (showing your face) from home using the PM Kisan app.
The PM Kisan Yojana aims to provide timely financial assistance to farmers for seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural needs. The government is working to prevent fraud through technology, so it's essential to follow the rules. Update all your details in time so that the 22nd installment, due in February, is credited directly to your account.
