Rajkot: The first Khelo India Beach Games started at Deewana Ghoghla Beach. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had inaugurated the games in a grand ceremony. In this festival, the diversity of India was shown through various traditional dances. On this occasion, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya had said that India is committed to becoming a superpower in sports by 2047. In these games, more than 1,350 players from 30 states and union territories have participated in various competitions. Various competitions will be organized for players like football, volleyball, kabaddi, swimming. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also described the Khelo India Beach Games as an important moment in the sports history of the country. In his message, he congratulated and extended good wishes to the organizers of the Games.
In an important step to strengthen the development of sports and athletes at the grassroots level across the country, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has launched a comprehensive annual calendar under the Khelo India initiative. Under this, Khelo India Beach Games have been organized in Diu from 19th to 25th May. Due to which the sportspersons will get encouragement and will also get a platform to present their art.
