Meghan Markle was accused of showing her true colours at the Sundance Film Festival this week as she clamoured for camera space while documentary director Alyssa Nahmias gave a speech at the podium. Meghan and Prince Harry were at the festival in Utah this weekend to promote the documentary Cookie Queens, which is being produced by their company Archewell Productions.

But as Alyssa spoke, Meghan was seen standing behind her, unable to be seen by waiting cameras. She could be seen shuffling around before stepping to the side of the podium, with fans accusing her of "wanting to be the centre of attention".

Alyssa thanked Meghan in her speech for her "incredible support and genuine passion", adding: "You, Prince Harry and your whole team at Archewell have understood my whole vision for this film."

Social media users flocked to X to tweet about the viral moment, with one writing: "This is hilarious. Meghan Markle realises the cameras can't see her so creeps into the frame. Arms crossed, p***y look because she's not talking and the centre of attention."

They added: "I need to know WHY the director and others are heaping all of this praise during every speech on Harry and Meghan, like they didn't hop on a project already deep in production. They did not create this documentary!"

Someone else responded: "An old stage trick, moving in the background to get the audience's attention."

As someone else said: "I love the way she couldn't work out which way to shuffle to get in view."

Others, however, leapt in to defend Meghan online. One said: "To be fair, the director is talking about her and it looks like Meghan moves to the side as she's being addressed."

Somebody else praised her: "Meghan Markle stood on the Sundance stage and reminded us why she is so special. She spoke with real feeling about young women, resilience, and community. A natural show of grace and real inspiration."

While another echoed: "Meghan is such an articulate, warm and thoughtful speaker. I could listen to her all day."
