Chelsea star Cole Palmer has been spotted back in training with Liam Rosenior's first-team squad ahead of the trip trip to Napoli amid ongoing speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge. The England international was spotted with a smile on his face alongside Estevao Willian in training and certainly didn't look unhappy contrary to reports earlier this week.

Palmer has been absent with a thigh strain and missed the Champions League win over Pafos and did not recover in time for the clash with Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Speaking ahead of that game, Chelsea head coach Rosenior said: "Unfortunately for us, Cole is not quite right for this one. I’ve said before in press conferences, we want to make sure very player is at 100 per cent.

“He’s got a little niggle and it is fine, he is not quite 100 per cent, but he’s got a chance for (the Napoli match on) Wednesday. Hopefully, he is back for that."

Palmerhas struggled with injuries throughout the campaign but his return to training is a major boost ahead of the Blues final Champions League clash in the league phase.

The 23-year-old has made just 13 appearances in all competitions this season, with five goals to his name. The lack of minutes for the Blues this season has coincided with speculation of Palmer being unhappy in London.

The Chelsea playmaker has been linked with a shock move away from Stamford Bridge, with Manchester United reportedly keen on signing the 23-year-old.

According to The Sun, Palmer would be keen on a move to United given they're his boyhood club, who are hopeful of bringing him back to the North West - but Chelsea chiefs consider him an 'untouchable.'

New Chelsea boss Rosenior also played down any talk of Palmer being unhappy earlier this month. He said: "I've had numerous conversations with Cole and he seems very, very happy to be here.

"He is very, very happy to be here. He's a huge part of our plans in the long term. He's an outstanding player. Every player goes through difficult moments in their careers in terms of injury."

Rosenior is set to speak with reporters this evening ahead of Chelsea's Champions League game against Napoli where he'll give further injury updates.
