Gujarat Giants Women clinched a thrilling three-run victory over Delhi Capitals Women in the 17th match of the Women’s Premier League 2026, held at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. This win catapulted the Giants back into second place on the points table after a nail-biting contest that kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the very end. Batting first, Gujarat set a challenging total of 174 for 9 in their 20 overs, which turned out to be just enough to secure the win.
The Giants’ innings was anchored by a steady and well-paced performance from Beth Mooney, who played a composed half-century. She received solid support from Anushka Sharma and Tanuja Kanwer, whose contributions helped push Gujarat past the 170-run mark.
Even though they lost wickets at crucial moments towards the end, the Giants managed to keep their momentum going and set Delhi a tough target of 175.

Delhi Capitals Fall Just Short in Tight Chase
In their chase, Delhi Capitals got off to a strong start, with Shafali Verma looking aggressive early on. However, her dismissal in the third over by Gayakwad put a damper on their momentum. Throughout the middle overs, several Delhi batters got starts but couldn’t convert them into big scores, which kept the pressure mounting on the chasing team.
Sophie Devine continued her impressive streak against Delhi, taking out key players like Jemimah Rodrigues, while Ashleigh Gardner’s dismissal of Marizanne Kapp further dashed the Capitals’ hopes.
A late resurgence from Niki Prasad and a valuable cameo from Rana brought Delhi back into contention, pushing the match into a tense finish. Nevertheless, Gujarat Giants held their composure in the final overs to defend their total successfully.
Although Sophie Devine gave away 23 runs in the 17th over, she ended up with four wickets, playing a crucial role in the Giants’ narrow but significant victory.
