Resignation of city magistrate creates political uproar
Bareilly . The case of 2019 batch PCS officer Alankar Agnihotri, who resigned from the post of City Magistrate of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, gained further momentum on Tuesday. On Monday, he resigned from his post citing insult to Shankaracharya and opposition to the UGC law. After this the government suspended him. Now in this matter, he started a march against the government and administration and sat on a dharna with his supporters outside the Collectorate on Tuesday.
Alankar said that he has received information about his suspension. Describing this action as unjust, he has announced to challenge it in the court. After this there was panic in administrative and political circles. Alankar, after meeting the DM late on Monday night, made allegations of pressure and hostage taking on the district administration, which the DM rejected outright.
On Tuesday, Alankar reached the Collectorate to meet the DM, but due to the gate being closed, he sat on a dharna with his supporters outside. The main gate was closed by deploying heavy police force outside the City Magistrate residence located in the ADM Compound. The police said that there were orders from above; the protest is continuing till the time of writing this news. ————–
