This is an important update for young people preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Exam. According to media reports, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to release the notification for the UPSC IAS Preliminary Exam 2026 soon. Along with the notification, the commission will share details including application dates, exam dates, and the number of vacancies. The notification was initially scheduled to be released on January 14th, but was postponed due to administrative reasons.
Eligibility for the UPSC CSE Exam
Candidates aspiring to become IAS officers must have a minimum of a graduate degree to fill out the application form. The minimum age of the candidate should be 21 years, and the maximum age should not exceed 32 years. However, reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, and PwD candidates will be given age relaxation as per the rules.
Selection Process for Becoming an IAS Officer
To become an IAS officer, candidates must first appear for the preliminary examination. Candidates who qualify in this stage will proceed to the main examination. After the results of the main exam are declared, successful candidates will participate in the interview process. A final list of candidates will be prepared after all the stages. Candidates who secure a place on the list will be appointed to the vacant positions.
Where and How to Apply
Candidates can complete the application process online for the UPSC CSE 2026 Preliminary Exam. To fill out the application form, you will first need to register for One Time Registration (OTR) on the portal upsconline.nic.in. After this, candidates can fill in the other details and complete the application process. Finally, candidates will have to submit the form after paying the prescribed fee.
Candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs. 100 as the application fee, which can be paid online. SC, ST, PwD, and all female candidates will be able to apply for the recruitment free of charge.
