Uttar Pradesh is likely to see more rainfall this week due to the influence of a Western Disturbance, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned. Lucknow and Ayodhya witnessed rainfall throughout the night, leading to waterlogging at many places. Light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds was recorded in Meerut, Agra, Aligarh, and Bareilly. Hailstorms also accompanied rain in Meerut, Baghpat, and Amroha. Najibabad recorded the highest rainfall of 5.6 mm.

According to met department officials, fresh western disturbance will lead to rainfall and thunderstorms in various parts of the state on Wednesday and temperatures are expected to fall further. "Due to the influence of an upcoming strong western disturbance, widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning and strong winds is likely in many parts of the state on Wednesday. During this period, a rapid increase of 3-5 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is expected. This will be followed by a rapid drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius from Jan 29," senior scientist at state met department Mohammad Danish told Times of India. "Minimum temperatures are expected to fall further over the next 24 hours, followed by a 3-5 degrees Celsus rise during widespread rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday," he said.

Professor Manoj Kumar Srivastava, a meteorologist at Banaras Hindu University, stated that a new western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India on January 30. This system is expected to cause significant temperature fluctuations in the region.
