YSR : Congress Party on Wednesday made grave allegations against Jana Sena Party MLA Arava Sridhar, accusing him of repeatedly sexually harassing and exploiting a government woman employee by leveraging his political position. The party claimed the alleged abuse continued over a prolonged period and involved intimidation, coercion, and false assurances.

Allegations Raised Through Social Media Statement
In a detailed post shared on social media platform X, the YSR Congress Party outlined a series of accusations against the Railway Kodur legislator. According to the party, the MLA allegedly established contact with the woman through social media and later used that connection to exert control over her life. The post claimed that the woman was subjected to sustained threats and pressure, with the MLA allegedly asserting that his political status placed him above the law.
The party further alleged that the woman, who reportedly lacked parental support, was particularly vulnerable and was repeatedly intimidated into complying with the MLA’s demands. It claimed that threats extended beyond her, targeting her family members, including her young child.
Claims of Prolonged Harassment and Coercion
YSR Congress leaders alleged that the woman lived under constant fear due to repeated phone calls and intimidation. The party claimed that the MLA made promises of marriage, which were later used to pressure the woman into taking extreme personal decisions. According to the allegations, the MLA contacted her husband directly, allegedly issuing threats and demanding that the couple separate.
The party stated that these actions led to severe family disputes and emotional distress. It further alleged that the woman became pregnant during this period and was later forced to undergo an abortion under threat, adding another serious dimension to the accusations.
Political Leaders Question Women’s Safety Claims
In its statement, the YSR Congress Party questioned the commitment of the ruling coalition to women’s safety, alleging that the incident reflected a broader failure of governance. The party directly challenged senior leaders of allied parties, asking whether such incidents aligned with their public assurances on protecting women and ensuring justice.
YSR Congress representatives described the allegations as an example of unchecked power, claiming that influential political figures were acting without fear of consequences.
Police Register Case, Investigation in Progress
Meanwhile, the Koduru police have confirmed that a formal case has been registered based on the complaint. Officials stated that an investigation is currently underway and that all allegations are being examined in accordance with legal procedures. Police sources indicated that statements would be recorded and evidence assessed before drawing conclusions.
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details, citing the sensitive nature of the case and the need to protect the identity of the complainant.
Women’s Wing Condemns Alleged Incident
YSR Congress Party Women’s Wing State President and Member of Legislative Council Varudu Kalyani strongly condemned the alleged actions. Speaking to the media at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, she said the incident highlighted what she described as a complete breakdown in safeguards for women under the current coalition government.
She alleged that political power was being misused and that ruling party representatives were operating with impunity. Kalyani called for strict legal action if the allegations were proven and stressed the need for institutional accountability to ensure women’s safety in the state.
