JEE Mains 2026 January 28 Exam Analyisis: Shift 1 moderate in difficulty level; check experts reaction

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the Joint Entrance (JEE) Mains 2026 session 1 January 28 shift 1 exam from 9 AM to 6 PM. As per the candidates who attempted the paper in shift 1 the difficulty level was moderate. Shift 2 will start at 3 PM and will conclude by 6 PM.
Subject experts and several coaching institutes will release the memory-based questions with solutions shortly for the easy calculation of the JEE Main score. The difficulty level of the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 exams of the previous dates was easy to moderate to difficult as per the shifts.
JEE Mains 2026 January 23 paper shift 1 analysis
- Physics- The Physics section was ‘moderate’ in difficulty level. Physics was tough in this shift as compared to mathematics and chemistry in the earlier shifts.
- Chemistry- Easy to moderate. This section was easier than Mathematics but more difficult than Physics. Organic chemistry dominated the section with more weightage than inorganic and physical chemistry. Physical chemistry had statement-type questions. Candidates required to spend around 55 to 60 minutes attempting this section.
- Mathematics- Challenging

- Question from modern physics- 1
- Questions from ray optics (Topic – lens, prism)- 2 to 3
- Question from electrostatic (Topic – Electric potential energy)- 1
- Question from semiconductor (Topic – Diode)- 1
- Questions from current electricity (Topic- Wheatstone Bridge)- 2 to 3
- Question from alternating current (Topic – RMS current)- 1
