Manipal: The Singapore government has recognized Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, part of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), as one of the world’s top medical colleges. According to a MAHE press release, the recognition will come into effect from February 1.
With this recognition, KMC joins a list of 120 globally renowned medical colleges from countries including Australia, Ireland, Malaysia, China, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The Singapore Medical Council regularly reviews registered medical qualifications to ensure that foreign-trained doctors applying to practice in Singapore meet the required education and training standards.
MAHE Pro-Chancellor Dr. H.S. Ballal said the recognition honours the visionary legacy of the institution’s founder, Dr. T.M.A. Pai. Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Dr. M.D. Venkatesh and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Sharath Rao added that KMC is the only medical college in India among the newly recognized institutions, reflecting the college’s commitment to excellence in medical education.
