Ramadan 2026 Date in India: Ramadan is considered the holiest month of Islam religion. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which comes after Shaban. On hearing the name of Ramzan, the spirit of worship, patience, repentance and good deeds awakens in the hearts of the Muslim community. When does fasting start in India?

The Islamic calendar (Hijri Sun) depends entirely on the position of the moon. According to astronomical calculations, these are the estimates regarding the dates of Ramadan this year.

Ramzan in India is expected to start from 19 February 2026 (Thursday).

Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries: Here the first Roza can be observed a day before India i.e. on 18 February 2026.

Generally, the exact date of Ramadan is decided only after the sighting of the moon. If the moon is visible on the evening of 18th February, then the first Roza will be on 19th February.

Why is the month of Ramadan special?

Ramadan is called the season of good deeds. It is believed that on a holy night of this month (Lailatul-Qadr) in the year 610 AD, Allah had revealed the first verses of the Quran Sharif to Prophet Mohammad through the angel Jibril. It is said that in this month the virtue of one obligatory prayer increases up to 70 times. According to Islamic beliefs, as soon as Ramadan starts, the doors of heaven are opened and the doors of hell are closed.

Fasting in Islam does not just mean giving up food and drink from morning to evening. It is considered a means of spiritual purity i.e. spiritual purity. It is important for a person observing fast not to lie with his tongue or speak ill of anyone, not to see anything wrong with his eyes, not to hear wrong things with his ears and not to bring bad thoughts into his mind.

Importance of charity and zakat

Giving Zakat (charity) has special significance in the month of Ramadan. Every capable Muslim gives a part of his annual income to the poor and needy. Apart from this, it is also mandatory to give Fitra before Eid namaz, so that poor people can also celebrate Eid happily.

When is Eid-ul-Fitr 2026?

The month of Ramadan is of 29 or 30 days. After its end, Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first date of Shawwal month. According to estimates, this year Eid can be celebrated on 21 March 2026. On the day of Eid, people offer special prayers in mosques and Eidgahs, hug each other and congratulate each other and sweet dishes and dishes are prepared at home.
