Coco Gauff has released another statement after appearing to accuse the Australian Open broadcasters of invading her privacy following a quarter-final defeat to Elina Svitolina. The American lost in straight sets to Svitolina, and Gauff was unable to keep her emotions in check following the defeat.

The two-time Grand Slam winner was captured smashing her racket to pieces following the loss - something she fiercely criticised for being shown during the post-match debrief. Gauff insinuated that it was an invasion of privacy and suggested players should be free to express their anger in private, away from the television cameras.

Following the outburst, Gauff has since taken to social media to issue an update. Posting on X, she said: "Living and learning. But still will keep trying to move forward. Also, im a real person with real feelings... I care a lot & im trying my best. thank you to those who understand that."

Gauff, whose best run at the Australian Open came back in 2024 when she reached the semi-finals, garnered plenty of support for her comments about the broadcasters. Post-match, she had said: "I have a thing with the broadcast. I feel like certain moments - the same thing happened to Aryna (Sabalenka) after I played her in the final of the US Open - they don't need to be broadcast.

"I tried to go somewhere where I thought there wasn't a camera, because I don't like breaking rackets. I broke one racket at the French Open and I said I would never do it again on court, because I don't feel like that's a good representation. I went somewhere where I thought they wouldn't broadcast it, but obviously they did. Maybe some conversations can be had, because I feel like at this tournament the only private place we have is the locker room."

Her compatriot, Jessica Pegula, threw her weight behind the claims, adding: "Yeah, I'm not a fan of the cameras. I saw that last night, and I was, like, geez. It's the same thing when Aryna [Sabalenka] lost the [2023 US Open] final, I was, like, can you just let the girls have like a moment to themselves?

"Honestly, we were talking about cameras years ago. I remember when Madi Keys, her number one priority on [player] council was, we have to stop with these cameras. This is crazy."
