Baramati:The plane crash in Baramati shocked Maharashtra and the entire country. Five people, including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, his security team and flight attendant Pinky Mali, lost their lives in this accident. The accident occurred near Baramati airport in Pune district on Wednesday morning, when the Learjet 45 aircraft (VT-SSK) of Delhi-based VSR Ventures crashed during landing.

There were five people on board the plane

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, his personal security officer Videep Jadhav, flight attendant Pinky Mali, pilot Sumit Kapoor and second-in-command Shambhavi Pathak. The plane took off from Mumbai at 8:10 am and was headed for Baramati, but disappeared from radar at 8:45 am and crashed at 8:50 am. Ajit Pawar was scheduled to address four rallies in Pune district before the Zilla Parishad elections.

Pinky Mali’s last conversation with her father

This accident also brought to light a story of personal sorrow. Pinky Mali called her father Shivkumar Mali for the last time before the accident. Pinky said, "Papa, I am going to Baramati with Ajit Pawar. After dropping them, I will leave for Nanded. will talk tomorrow."

Shivkumar replied that he would talk after the work was over the next day, but that day never came. The distressed father said, "I have lost my daughter. I don’t know exactly what happened. My only wish is that I can give him a respectful funeral." Shivkumar also told that Pinky had traveled with Ajit Pawar several times. The accident changed his life forever.

Relief work after the accident

Emergency services and senior security officials immediately reached the spot after the plane lost control during landing. Rescue teams were immediately deployed, but not all the people on board the plane could be saved. Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) sent a team from Delhi to Pune, which is investigating the cause of the accident. According to preliminary information, the accident occurred due to loss of control at the time of landing.

Ajit Pawar’s demise created deep grief and stir in political circles also. His sudden death before the Zilla Parishad elections has posed a challenge for the party and the local administration.
