Fans have been raving about a four-part crime drama they have called one of the greatest series ever made. The story follows police detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) - the only character to appear in every season - as he attempts to uncover why unlikely culprits have committed disturbing crimes. Season one centres on Cora Tannetti (Jessica Biel), a woman who cannot explain why she violently stabbed a man to death.

In season two, Ambrose is drawn back to his hometown to investigate the poisoning of a couple, while the third instalment sees the detective uncover a chilling motive behind a fatal car accident. In the fourth and final season, a now-retired Ambrose is called back to assist with a new chilling investigation. The Sinner premiered in 2017 and ran until 2021, with all episodes availabvle on Netflix.

The first series received Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, including a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress for Jessica Biel.

The cast also features Christopher Abboytt, Elisha Henig, Carrie Coon, Matt Bomer, Alice Kremelberg and Michael Mosley. The first season was inspired by German author Petra Hammesfahr's 1999 novel of the same name, which remained at the top of the German bestseller list for more than one year.

The book has been translated into 11 different languages and has been described as "beautifully written" and an "amazing masterpiece" on Goodreads.
