A shocking decision has been taken in England cricket. England's Test captain Ben Stokes has been given a new responsibility. He has been included in the coaching staff for the white-ball series against Pakistan Shaheen in Abu Dhabi. Along with him, another legendary player of England will be seen in the coaching staff. This tour includes three T20 and five 50 over matches, which will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in February 2026.
Captain Ben Stokes became coach
This is the first white-ball series for England Lions after three years. Keeping in mind the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, the England Cricket Board is placing more emphasis on the development of young players. At the same time, there is a special reason for including Ben Stokes in the coaching staff. He was injured during the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney, due to which he is recovering from a groin injury. In such a situation, Stokes will use this tour to recover from his groin injury.
Stokes has previously worked with Northern Superchargers (The Hundred) as a mentor to Andrew Flintoff, who is the coach of the England Lions. On the other hand, former England all-rounder Moeen Ali is also a part of the coaching staff. He recently came out of retirement from domestic cricket and decided to play in the T20 Blast for Yorkshire. Now he will join the coaching staff with the Lions. Let us tell you, the coaching team is being led by Andrew Flintoff, who is the head coach. The remaining members include Neil McKenzie, Sarah Taylor, Neil Killeen, Amar Rashid and Troy Cooley.
