Cricket Gully | January 29, 2026 6:39 AM CST

USA batter Aaron Jones has found himself in hot water, facing five charges for breaching the anti-corruption codes set by Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC). This news broke on Wednesday, January 28, through a media release from the governing body.

The charges primarily relate to alleged incidents that took place during the Bim10 tournament in Barbados for the 2023-24 season, which falls under the CWI Anti-Corruption Code. Notably, two of these charges also pertain to international matches, thus coming under the ICC's Anti-Corruption Code.

According to the CWI Code, Jones is accused of attempting to fix certain aspects of matches in the Bim10 tournament, failing to report any approaches to engage in corrupt activities, and not cooperating with a reasonable investigation led by the designated anti-corruption official.

On top of that, the ICC has charged him with not providing full details to its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) regarding any invitations or approaches to partake in corrupt conduct, as well as obstructing an ACU investigation by allegedly hiding or altering information pertinent to the inquiry.

These charges are part of a broader investigation, with the ICC hinting that more charges against other individuals could be on the horizon. As a result, Jones has been provisionally suspended from all forms of cricket effective immediately.

He has until January 28, 2026, to respond to these charges. The ICC has stated that it will refrain from making any further comments until the disciplinary proceedings are wrapped up.

At 31 years old, Jones has played in 100 international matches for the USA, including 52 ODIs and 48 T20Is. He’s also been active in the T20 scene, playing for the Seattle Orcas in the Major League Cricket and for the St Lucia Kings in the CPL, where he even top-scored in the final during their 2024 victory. His last appearance was at the Abu Dhabi T10 league in November 2025.
