A 23-year-old Bridgewater man is set to face court in Adelaide today after allegedly launching a violent late-night rampage inside a city KFC, where police say he assaulted staff and bit a responding officer on the ear during a struggle.
Just before 11:30 pm, police were called to a fast-food restaurant on Pulteney Street, near the end of Adelaide’s central Rundle Mall. He is set to appear in court today.
Officers were told a man was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the premises.
According to 9News website, after police were called, the man allegedly jumped over the counter and attacked three employees. Police allege the man punched one of the responding officers and then bit him on the ear when they confronted him.
The Bridgewater man, 23, was taken into custody and charged with a series of offences, including assaulting police.
The officer was treated for facial injuries, with SAPOL saying he remained in high spirits.
While none of the three fast-food workers were physically injured, police said they were left shaken by the attack.
Authorities said police acted quickly to restrain the man and ensure the safety of both staff and customers, highlighting the challenges officers face when responding to disturbances in public spaces.
