Bihar News: There's good news for young people in Bihar looking for jobs and self-employment opportunities. Now, you don't need to be a 10th-grade pass to become a bus conductor. The Bihar Transport Department has made a major decision, lowering the educational qualification. Now, even if you are only an 8th-grade pass, you can get a conductor's license.

What is the new order?
On Tuesday, the Transport Department issued an official order in this regard. According to the old rules of the Bihar Motor Vehicles Rules, 1992, it was mandatory for applicants to have at least a 10th-grade pass to obtain a conductor's license. But now the state government has amended (changed) this rule.

The new rule came into effect across the state on January 28, 2026. Now, any young person who has passed the 8th grade from a recognized school can apply for a conductor's license.

How to apply?
If you also want to take advantage of this new rule, you don't need to go anywhere. Based on the revised qualifications, you can now apply online on the Sarathi Portal. This process is completely digital, ensuring transparency and saving young people from having to visit government offices repeatedly.
