Colombian officials confirmed that there were no survivors on board the plane, which had 13 passengers and two crew members on board. The country’s Civil Aeronautics Authority has also confirmed this.

According to CNN report, 36-year-old Quintero’s death in the plane crash has also been confirmed by the party that nominated him in the House of Representatives. The party said that Colombian Congressman Diogenes Quintero was also among those on board the plane. Quintero’s office team said they lost contact with him and his assistant after the plane disappeared. The last location on his mobile phone was found at Camilo Daza Airport in Cúcuta.

Colombia’s Civil Aviation Minister Maria Fernanda Rojas said that the crashed plane (registration number HK 4709) belonged to the government airline Satena. The plane was en route to Ocaña from Cúcuta in the north-eastern department of Norte de Santander. The plane took off at 11:42 am. He lost contact with air traffic control at 11:54 am. According to another report, the plane’s signal disappeared nine minutes after taking off from Camilo Daza Airport.

Quintero, a lawyer by profession, was elected as one of 16 representatives in the lower house in 2022 to represent victims of Colombia’s decades-long armed conflict. Quintero’s party leaders have expressed grief over his death. Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro has expressed deep sorrow over the plane crash. After an intensive search, the crashed plane was found in the rural area of ​​La Playa de Belen, officials said. The office of the Governor of Norte de Santander expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
