Baramati. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar was cremated with full state honors in Baramati on Thursday. Pawar’s entire family was present on this occasion. Both his sons lit the funeral pyre of their father. Many dignitaries including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President Nitin Naveen, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray were present at the funeral.
A large number of people participated in the last journey of Ajit Pawar and there was a traffic jam on the road. His mortal remains were brought to his Katewadi residence on Thursday morning.
Pawar died in a plane crash at 8:45 am on Wednesday. A total of 5 people, including his security personnel, two pilots and a female crew, also died in this accident. Maharashtra government has declared three days of state mourning on his death. During this period, the national flag will remain at half mast on all government buildings across the state. Police have registered Accidental Death Report (ADR) in this accident.
Meanwhile, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has taken over the investigation of the plane crash. The crashed aircraft was a Learjet 45 with registration number VT-SSK and was being operated by VSR Ventures. According to Civil Aviation Ministry information, the flight crew had decided to abort the initial landing sequence, after which the aircraft was allowed to land on Runway 11 at 8:43 pm.
