UPI Glitch: In today's digital age, sending money via UPI has become a daily habit. From paying for tea to rent, bills, and sending money to relatives, everything is done in a jiffy with a mobile phone. But sometimes, a UPI transaction shows 'Success', the money is debited from the account, but the recipient says they haven't received the amount. In such a situation, it's natural to panic, and the first question that comes to mind is, "What should I do now?" Here, we will answer this question for you.

Why does this happen?
This problem often occurs due to a technical glitch in the bank or UPI server. Slow network speeds, bank server downtime, or delays in the UPI system can cause the transaction to get stuck. The good news is that in most cases, this is not a permanent problem. Either the money reaches the receiver after some time, or it is automatically refunded to your account.

What to do first if money is debited but not received?
First, check the transaction status. If it shows Pending, it means the transaction is still being processed. In this case, wait for some time.
If it shows Failed and the money has been debited, further action is necessary.

Usually, in such situations, the issue resolves itself within 30 to 60 minutes. According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), a successful UPI transaction should show 'Success' on the app, and you should also receive an SMS from the bank. If you don't receive any confirmation within an hour, you should become vigilant.

What to do if the money doesn't arrive even after 1 hour?
If an hour has passed and the money has neither been refunded nor received by the recipient, first use the In-App Support of your UPI app. Apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm have options like 'Help', 'Report a Problem', or 'Raise a Dispute'. Enter the transaction ID there and register a complaint.

If you don't get a resolution from the app within 24 hours, contact your bank's customer care directly. According to RBI regulations, banks are required to resolve such complaints within 3 working days.

If the problem is still not resolved, the matter can be escalated to NPCI. If a resolution is not reached even after 30 days, you can file a complaint with the RBI Banking Ombudsman.

Money getting stuck in a UPI transaction can be a frustrating experience, but there's no need to panic. With the right information, patience, and by following the correct process, you can get your money back safely. Just make sure to keep a record of all transaction details and file your complaint promptly.
