New Delhi: In a horrific incident, a female Delhi Police commando was beaten up by her husband, resulting in her death. She was undergoing treatment in the hospital after suffering a wound in her head. Five days later, the commando succumbed to her injuries.
Frequent quarrels over financial mattersKajal Chaudhary, a 27-year-old SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) commando posted with the Delhi Police Special Cell died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment after she was allegedly attacked by her husband with a dumbbell five days ago. The husband, Ankur, who worked as a clerk in the Defence Ministry, was arrested on January 22, the day of the alleged murder. They reportedly had frequent arguments over financial matters.
Ankur assaults Kajal with dumbbellAt around 10 pm on January 22, amid another quarrel, Ankur assaulted Kajal. She was admitted to Tarak Hospital, Mohan Garden, with serious head injuries. According to her brother Nikhil, a constable at the Parliament Street police station, Kajal called him on the fateful day. While they were speaking, Ankur allegedly started hitting her with dumbbell. After a few minutes, Ankur called him up and bluntly told him of the assault.
Police registers case against AnkurKajal was a constable in the Delhi Police, recruited in 2022 and was posted in SWAT, Special Cell at the time of her death. She got married in 2023 to Ankur, a clerk in the Ministry of Defence, posted at Delhi Cantonment. According to reports, the couple has a one-and-a-half-year-old son.
At first, an attempt to murder case was registered at Mohan Garden Police Station, and Ankur was arrested on the same day. Later, he was sent to judicial custody. Kajal succumbed to her injuries during treatment on January 27. Following her death, the police incorporated the murder section in the case.
