New Delhi: While Team India goes into the T20 World Cup 2026 as the favourites, there still remain to be some issues which the Men in Blue need to fix ahead of the global cricketing event. India, which is the defending champion of the T20 spectacle having won the 2024 edition, have been in superlative form when it comes to the shortest format.

In the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, the Men in Blue have notched up three wins in a total of four matches played till now and with just a lone match to take place on Saturday in Kerala. In the first three games of the series, India exhibited an immaculate all-round performance pushing the Kiwi side against the wall completely.

In the fourth match, they came close to a victory but fell short by 50 runs despite a fabulous show from Shivam Dube. Overall, they have produced a brilliant all-round show to emerge as one of the deadliest side in the competition. Meanwhile, Indian stalwart Rohit Sharma has pointed out at India’s biggest challenge as they go into the marquee competition.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Rohit said that team management will have to get the combinations right ahead of the big ICC event. The former Indian captain further said that their will be a fight between two specialist spinners – Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy as both possess quality and experience to be perfect fit for the multi-nation event.

Rohit also pointed out that the tournament’s timing, during the transition from winter to spring, will bring heavy dew into play during evening games. Speaking on Hotstar, the senior Indian cricketer said that the biggest challenge for captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir will be how to play both Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy together. If you want that combination, you can only do it if you play with two seamers, which is a big challenge.
