When sweat, oil and pollution accumulate together on the scalp, it increases problems like inflammation, itching and dandruff. It has a direct effect on the growth, shine and strength of hair.

Major harm caused to hair due to pollution

Due to continuous exposure to pollution, hair has to suffer many types of damages-

  • dry and lifeless hair
  • dandruff and itching
  • hair fall and breakage
  • stop hair growth

Ignoring the scalp can be difficult

Dyson’s Head of Beauty Research Shaun Lim says that the scalp is often ignored in hair care, while the root of most problems is an unhealthy scalp. There are about 1 lakh hair follicles and sebaceous glands in our scalp, which determine the health of the hair.

Be careful of pollution and heat tools

Along with pollution, excessive heat tools like hair straighteners, curlers and blow dryers can worsen the condition of hair. Experts advise not to use too hot tools on the scalp and adopt tool-free hairstyle as far as possible.

Do scalp care like skincare

According to experts, scalp care should also be treated like skincare-

  • Do gentle exfoliation once a week.
  • Apply serum or oil rich in antioxidants.
  • Massage the scalp regularly.
  • Keep dandruff under control.

Diet also plays an important role

According to Shawn Lim, a diet rich in fruits and vegetables helps fight free radicals. Whereas Dr. Geetika says that for strong and thick hair, it is very important to take a diet rich in Omega-3, Zinc and Vitamin A and C.

Correct way of washing hair is also important

Be sure to wash your hair after days with high pollution. For this-

  • Do gentle cleansing with mild shampoo.
  • After this apply light conditioner or serum.
  • It locks moisture in the hair and prevents them from breakage.
