Sunny Deol starrer **Border 2**, directed by J.P. The sequel to Dutta’s 1997 iconic war epic, continues its stellar run at the box office. Directed by Anurag Singh and co-written by Sumit Arora, the film—which was released on January 23, 2026—has emerged as one of the biggest Hindi hits of the year, capitalizing on the patriotism of the Republic Day weekend.

According to reliable trade tracker **Sacknilk** (as of January 29, 2026), **Border 2** earned an estimated **Rs 13 crore nett** on its first Wednesday (Day 6, January 28). This takes the total net earnings in India to **Rs 213 crores**, while the gross earnings in India is approximately **Rs 255 crores**. Hindi occupancy averaged **16.78%**, which increased from morning (7.52%) to night shows (22.50%).

The film crossed the **Rs 200 crore nett** milestone domestically in just six days—a remarkable feat for a January release. Initial collections included a good opening due to holidays: around Rs 59 crore nett was collected on Day 4 (Republic Day Monday).

Worldwide, **Border 2** has earned approximately **Rs 295–313 crore** grosses (there are slight variations in reports as per sources like Sacknilk, Taran Adarsh ​​and Bollywood Hungama), of which around Rs 40 crore is contributed from overseas. It has joined the **Rs 300 crore club** globally, becoming Diljit Dosanjh’s highest-grossing film and one of Sunny Deol’s biggest films after Gadar 2.

The film’s star cast—Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Mona Singh—presents an emotional story set during the India-Pakistan war of 1971. Bhushan Kumar has confirmed that work on **Border 3** is already underway. With positive word-of-mouth and consistently good weekday collections, **Border 2** is all set to exceed lifetime earnings of over Rs 300 crore nett in India, and can target over Rs 400 crore nett worldwide.
