New Delhi: A very sad and shameful case has come to light in Bhajanpura area of North-East Delhi. Here an innocent 6-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three minor boys. The most shameful thing is that the age of the accused boys is between 10 to 14 years. This incident happened on January 18, 2026, but the family lodged a complaint later, which brought the matter to light.
How did the incident happen?
Police investigation revealed that the girl was playing outside the house. The three minor boys lured her, and in some reports by luring her with money or food, and took her to a nearby vacant building or rooftop. There he allegedly brutally raped the girl.
When the girl returned home, she was injured and covered in blood. Initially he said that he had fallen, but upon questioning by his mother, he told the truth. The mother immediately went to the police station and complained and the girl was taken to the hospital.
Police action in the case
Police registered the case under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Harassment Act (POCSO). All three accused are residents of the same area and used to work in a nearby factory. Two minors (aged 10 and 13 years) were taken into custody and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
The mother of one of the accused herself handed him over to the police. The third accused (14 years old) is absconding, probably has fled to Bihar with his family. Police are searching for him and are also examining the CCTV footage of the area.
Resentment in family and area
The girl’s mother told that her daughter is no longer able to walk and is very scared. He is being given counseling and care after medical examination. The people of the area are angry. For the last several days they have been protesting on the streets and demanding speedy investigation. Police have assured that strict action will be taken and no one will be spared. People have calmed down after the police assured them.
This incident is creating deep concern in the society regarding the safety of children. The legal process in such crimes by minors takes place under the Juvenile Justice Board, but the victim’s family is waiting for justice.
