Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made it clear that the team is ready for the World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka. The team will leave for Colombo on 2 February. Along with playing the tournament, Pakistan team will also play a high voltage match with the Indian team on 15 February.
Earlier, Bangladesh had refused to play the match in India citing security reasons. After which Bangladesh was thrown out of the tournament. While supporting Bangladesh, Pakistan itself had threatened to boycott the World Cup. But if sources are to be believed, PCB believed that by doing this its position in ICC would be weakened. Therefore he refused to do so.
Called the news of boycott a rumor
If sources are to be believed, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had met the Pakistani Prime Minister regarding the matter. The decision discussed in it should be such that the future of Pakistan cricket is secure. In such a situation, the situation of dispute with ICC was not a right situation for the Pakistan Board.
By 2027, India-Pakistan competition will be at a neutral place.
There is a tripartite agreement between ICC, BCCI and ICC, under this agreement, matches between India and Pakistan will be held in ICC as neutral venues. Meaning, apart from India and Pakistan, they will be at some third place. This tripartite agreement is till 2027. The T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan will be held in Sri Lanka. Even if there is a final match in any tournament between the two teams, that match will still be held at a neutral venue.
