Cuttack: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Dr. Sanatana Behera, the Associate Professor of the Department of Hepatology at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, with a sum of Rs 2,63,000 cash.
Based on receipt of reliable information regarding collection of illegal cash by Behera from participating bidders for supply of medical instruments to hepatology department, a team of Odisha Vigilance kept a close watch over his movement and activities.
The team of Odisha Vigilance intercepted him today at Kathagolasahi-Medical Road, Cuttack while he was proceeding to his residential Govt. quarter in his Hero Honda Activa Scooter bearing Regn No. OD05-BS-7309.
During interception, a sum of Rs 2,63,000 was found from possession of the doctor, which he could not account for satisfactorily. The entire cash as well as Hero Honda Activa Scooter have been seized.
Soon after the interception, simultaneous searches have been launched at Govt. residential quarter at Cantonment Road, triple storeyed building at CDA Sector-6, Cuttack and his clinic “Eko Imaging Institute and Pro” at Mangalabag Medical road, Cuttack.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case No.04 dated 29.01.2026 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (b)/ 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against the Associate Professor.
Following his arrest the accused doctor has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court. The investigation of the case is in progress.
