In Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a 22-year-old youth murdered his maternal uncle by slitting his throat, allegedly over a love affair with his maternal aunt. Police gave this information on Thursday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi said that the accused Adesh, a resident of Sitapur district, killed Balram (30) by attacking him with a sharp weapon on Wednesday night. He told that Aadesh along with two other associates reached Balram's house in Bhatipura Chandu village and attacked him, due to which Balram died on the spot. Dwivedi said that information about the incident was received on Thursday morning, when Balram's brother informed the police after seeing the dead body on the cot. He said that preliminary investigation revealed that Aadesh was allegedly having an affair with Balram's wife.

The police officer said that Balram's wife and his five-year-old son were sleeping in the same room at the time of the murder. In view of these circumstances, the police is also investigating the role of Balram's wife in the crime. The Superintendent of Police said that the body has been sent for post-mortem. He said that Balram's wife has been detained and efforts are on to nab Aadesh.
