UAN Merging Process: Due to company errors, many people end up with two UANs when changing jobs. If this has happened to you, there's no need to worry. There's a way to correct it.

UAN Merging Process: If you've changed jobs frequently, this information is crucial for you. Many employees unknowingly find themselves in a situation where they have more than one UAN. Initially, people don't think this is a big deal, but later, this mistake can cause significant problems with PF transfers and withdrawals.

The EPFO states that it's One Member One UAN, meaning only one UAN is valid throughout your entire working life. Despite this, due to system or company errors, thousands of people have two or more active UANs. But you should know that this can be corrected, completely online and without much hassle. Let's tell you how you can complete this process.

Two UANs can also be created due to company errors

The most common reason for having two UANs is not providing your old UAN to the new company. When an employee doesn't provide their old PF information to HR at the time of joining, a new UAN is generated. However, sometimes this happens due to an error by the old company because the exit date is not updated. The system then thinks you are still in your old job, so the new company creates a new UAN. If this has happened to you, there's no need to worry. You can merge both UANs into one.

How to merge two UANs?

The EPFO provides an online facility for all members to merge their UANs. For this, log in to unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in with your UAN and password. After logging in, go to Online Services and select the One Member One EPF Account option. Now, carefully check your personal and KYC details. After this, it's best to choose your current employer for attestation.

Because the process is faster with the current employer compared to the old one. Enter your old PF Member ID or old UAN details and click on "Get Details". Verify the OTP received on your mobile phone, accept the declaration, and submit. Your employer will then process your request, and your UANs will be merged.
