The deadline for the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) is fast approaching. However, the hopes of millions of farmers in Bihar may be dashed this time. The Bihar government had set up special camps for creating Farmer IDs, but despite this, more than 50 lakh farmers have still not received their Farmer IDs. The problem stems from discrepancies between the names on their Aadhaar cards and their land records (Jamabandi). Even a slight difference in names is preventing the online portal from accepting their entries.

The central government has clearly stated that without a Farmer Registry, farmers will not be able to avail themselves of the benefits of any government scheme, including the PM-KISAN scheme. Approximately 85 lakh farmers in Bihar need to register in the Farmer Registry. Of these, more than 73 lakh farmers are beneficiaries of the PM-KISAN scheme. However, according to Bihar Agristack, only 29,28,805 farmers have received their Farmer IDs so far. This means that the Farmer Registry process is incomplete for more than 40 lakh farmers.

Farmer Registry stalled due to Jamabandi issues.
A large number of farmers are complaining that their Farmer IDs are not being generated due to errors in their names in the Jamabandi records. They are making rounds of the agriculture department offices, but their work is not getting done. There are many farmers whose names on their Aadhaar cards and land records are slightly different. Officials say that even a minor difference in spelling will prevent the online software from accepting the entry. If your Farmer ID is also stuck due to this reason, you still have time to get it corrected immediately.
