Virat Kohli holds several major IPL records, most notably being the highest run-scorer in IPL history with over 8,661 runs and the only player to have played for a single franchise (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) since the league's inception in 2008. He has won the Orange Cap twice, in 2016 and 2024.
Virat Kohli is the sole player to have represented the same team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), in every single IPL season since 2008. His extraordinary 973 runs in the 2016 season remain the highest individual tally in IPL history.
Not only that, Kohli holds the record for the most centuries in the tournament's history with eight tons. He has won the Orange Cap (most runs in a season) twice, in 2016 and again in 2024.
Kohli often is considered as one of India's best fielders. In IPL, his record of 117 catches, standing as the most for a non-wicketkeeping batter, proves his athletic abilities.
Despite his numerous individual records, the maiden IPL trophy came after a long wait, in 2025. Kohli stood tall in most of the matches for RCB, sometimes alone. And in some of the cases, he scored centuries in the losing cause. Here is a list of centuries that have ever been scored for their respective teams despite losing.
