Bengaluru: Chowkidar, a new Kannada–Telugu bilingual film, is set to release in theatres on Friday. The film has generated interest among audiences even before its release due to its subject and treatment.

The film is directed by Chandrashekhar Bandiyappa, who earlier directed Rathavara. It is produced by Kallahalli Chandrashekhar. Actors Pruthvi Ambar and Dhanya Ramkumar play the lead roles.

Though the film gives the impression of an action drama based on Pruthvi Ambar’s rugged look, the director has clarified that Chowkidar is primarily a family drama. The story focuses on the relationship between a father and son, presented in a different narrative style. The backdrop of the film is a silk market, and senior actor Saikumar appears as a beat officer associated with the market.

Speaking about the film, director Chandrashekhar Bandiyappa said that Chowkidar is an emotional drama that explores how thoughts and emotions change over time. He added that the narration and storytelling approach are new, and the film offers a different experience to viewers.

The film was shot over 102 days across multiple locations, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
