Bank Account Mobile Number Change: The mobile number linked to your bank account is very important. If your old number is no longer active, you should add a new one. What is the bank's process for this? Find out.
Nowadays, almost everyone has a bank account. People don't just deposit money in their bank accounts; they also use them for other important transactions. A linked mobile number is crucial for most bank-related activities. You can't do anything without it.
People often think that adding a second mobile number to their bank account is a complicated process. They imagine long queues, filling out forms, and wasting time. However, this is not the case anymore. Banks have made this process quite easy. You can easily update your number from the comfort of your home or by visiting your branch.
There are three ways to add or change your mobile number in your bank account: through an ATM, using net banking, and by visiting your home branch. Each method is designed to suit different needs and conveniences, minimizing inconvenience for the customer.
If you have a bank debit card, the ATM is the easiest option. Insert your card into the ATM and enter your PIN. Select the "Registrations" or "Personal Details" option on the screen. Then click on "Mobile Number Registration" and then "Change Mobile Number." After entering the new number, verification will be done via OTP.
For those who use net banking, the process is even simpler. Log in to the bank's website with your user ID and password. Go to the "Profile" or "Security Settings" section. Here you will find the "Update Mobile Number" option. After entering the new number, verification is done through OTP or e-KYC.
Those who don't use online banking frequently can visit their home branch. There, you will need to fill out a mobile number update form. Enter your old and new numbers on the form. You will also need to submit a copy of your Aadhaar card or PAN card and your passbook.
After submitting the form, the bank employee will verify your signature and details. Once the verification is complete, the new number is updated in the bank's system. Usually, the mobile number becomes active within 24 to 48 hours, and all banking alerts will then start arriving on the new number.
