Air fryers have become an essential kitchen appliance across the nation, yet many people struggle to find the best way to clean them thoroughly. While the basket can be removed and washed in soapy water, this approach doesn't address the entire unit.
Furthermore, accumulated grease within the basket can be incredibly stubborn to remove. Thankfully, one TikTok user has shared their own cleaning hack, claiming itcan make air fryers look "as good as new". The simple method requires just two everyday items you'll likely already have in your kitchen cupboards.
@TheTummyFairy, known as Ciara, showcased her ingenious approach, calling it the "easiest way" to clean air fryers. She explained: "A safe and easy way to clean your air fryer."
Ciara squeezed some washing-up liquid into her air fryer basket and added a quarter cup of baking soda. Once the kettle had boiled, she poured hot water into the basket until the contents were fully submerged, reports the Mirror.
The TikToker's combination of washing-up liquid and baking soda created a satisfying fizz. She allowed it to sit for 20 minutes, giving it time to break down the persistent grease.
Ciara then poured the mixture down the sink before rinsing her air fryer basket under warm running water. "There you go," she declared.
"It's like brand new."
Another clever method for cleaning your air fryer utilises a dishwasher tablet. TikTok user @lifebytheparsons, who regularly posts cleaning tips and household advice, adopted a comparable technique to Ciara's, but substituted washing-up liquid and bicarbonate of soda with a dishwasher tablet.
She placed the tablet in the tray and added boiling water over the top. The tray was then returned to the air fryer, which remained turned off during the process.
The cleaning expert noted that closing the drawer generates a steaming action, explaining: "I just find that this loosens the dirt."
Following a 20-minute soak, the TikTok user demonstrated that it "required hardly any scrubbing" as the grime had been effectively softened and dislodged.
