While inaugurating the IFS Meet-2026 in Bhopal, CM Mohan Yadav praised the achievements of the Forest Department. Kuno described Cheetah Project, wildlife conservation and welfare of officials as the priority of the government.
Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the Forestry Conference and IFS Meet-2026 at RCVP Noronha Administration Academy, Bhopal on Friday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister released the IFS theme song of the Forest Department and its video. In the program, retired Indian Forest Service officer and former PCCF of the state, respected Dr. P.B. Gangopadhyay was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award-2026 for his contribution to the protection and development of forests. This honor was received by his wife Mrs. Gauri Gangopadhyay.
Achievements of Forest Department: Extension to sky, land and water
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the forest department of the state is continuously doing excellent work. Cheetah restoration in Kuno National Park is a great example of the efficiency of the forest department. Campaigns to release gharial in Chambal and crocodile in Narmada have also been successful. He said that the Forest Department has strengthened the relationship of trust between wildlife, forests and the local community.
The state government is also making efforts to bring wildlife from Assam. Water structures are also playing an important role in wildlife conservation. The Chief Minister said that the activities of the Forest Department have spread at all three levels – air, land and water. He described the IFS Meet as a platform to increase family intimacy and cooperation along with professional dialogue.
IFS Meet: A platform for experiences and learning
The Chief Minister said that organizing IAS, IPS and now IFS meet in the state is a commendable initiative. Through this, current officers learn from the experience of their seniors. Underlining the importance of forests in Indian culture, he said that in the Sanatan tradition, Vanaprastha Ashram reflects the life values associated with forests.
Government committed to the welfare of forest officers
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that forest officers and employees play the role of allies and guides to the villagers living around the forests. The Forest Department takes care of the necessary facilities in the forest villages. He described the initiative of wire fencing between the core and buffer zone of national sanctuaries as important, which will keep both wildlife and local citizens safe. He said that the state government is making every possible effort for the welfare of the officers and employees of the forest department.
