Tandoori and tikka varieties have a special place in Indian food culture. Among non-vegetarian dishes, Fish Tikka is one such dish, which strikes a beautiful balance of taste, aroma and presentation. Due to proper use of spices, curd marination and proper cooking method, fish tikka remains lightly crispy on the outside and juicy and soft on the inside. So this dish can be easily prepared not only in hotels but also at home.

As fish tikka is lighter and cooks faster than chicken tikka, it is also a good option for health conscious people. Fish is an excellent source of protein and retains its nutritional value when cooked properly. This dish can be made as a starter, for a party or as a special meal. Fish tikka can be prepared in different ways like oven, tawa or grill, so this recipe can be adapted to suit everyone’s kitchen. So, how to prepare Indian Style Fish Tikka at home Recipe Let’s find out.

Materials:

  • Boneless fish pieces – 500 gms
  • Curd (thick) – ½ cup
  • Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Kashmiri Red Chillies – 1½ tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin – ½ tsp
  • Garam masala – ½ tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Gram flour – 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard oil or refined oil – 1 tbsp
  • Onion, capsicum (cut into squares) – optional

Marination Process:

  • Beat curd well in a bowl.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, all dry spices, salt, lemon juice and oil.
  • Add gram flour and thicken the mixture so that the masala adheres well to the fish.
  • Add the fish cubes to this marinade and mix gently.
  • Cover and leave to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

On the griddle:

  • Heat a pan and apply some oil.
  • Place the marinated fish cubes on the pan.
  • Cook on medium heat on both sides until the fish is fully cooked and lightly charred.

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Place the fish pieces in the trivet and grill for 10–15 minutes, turning once in between.
