Highlights of the first T20 match between Sri Lanka and England : Sam Curran’s hat-trick helped England win the rain-interrupted first T20 match against Sri Lanka by 11 runs (DLS). In the match played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka could not even bat a full over and were bowled out for 133 runs. Due to rain, the match was played to 17 overs each. England were 125 for 4 in 15 overs, but again rain came and the match could not be played. As England were ahead on the DLS equivalent score, they were declared the winners. England has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Sam Curran wreaked havoc
England all-rounder Sam Curran completed his hat-trick by taking three wickets in the last three balls of the 16th over. He became the second bowler after Chris Jordan to take a hat-trick for England in T20Is. He dismissed captain Dasun Shanaka on the fourth ball of the over. He then completed his hat-trick by dismissing Mahesh Thikshan and Mathisha Pathirana for a golden duck. However, Karan proved to be very expensive in this match. He took these three wickets for 38 runs in 3 overs.

Despite Sam Curran’s hat-trick, Adil Rashid was awarded the man of the match award. Rashid took three important wickets for just 19 runs in his four overs. He completely controlled the Sri Lankan batsmen and prevented the hosts from building a big score. Rashid’s crucial performance in the match earned him the man of the match award.
Brilliant innings by Phil Salt on a tough pitch
Chasing the target of 134, England opener Phil Salt smashed a brilliant knock of 46 off 35 balls, which included three fours and two sixes. His innings played a vital role in England’s victory. After Salt, the team’s highest run-scorer was Tom Benton, who scored 29 runs.
For England, Sam Curran scored the most runs in his three overs and dismissed three batsmen. Adil Rashid also took three wickets giving away 19 runs in his four overs. Both the bowlers combined to trouble the Sri Lankan batsmen.
