Nipah Virus: When the ability to challenge India on the field was lost, the neighboring countries have now adopted the path of ‘narrative war’ to spoil India’s game. Pakistan, which is struggling with economic crisis, and Bangladesh, which is embroiled in internal chaos, are conspiring together to hinder the successful hosting of T20 World Cup 2026. An attempt is being made to spread fear in the international cricket world by turning just two sporadic cases of Nipah virus in West Bengal into an epidemic.
This is a direct attack on India’s sports economy, the credibility of the ICC and BCCI—a kind of organized digital terrorism. However, this propaganda has been debunked by the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO has clearly said that the risk of Nipah virus in India is very low and there is no sign of its spread.
What did WHO say?
Anais Legrand, senior official of WHO’s Health Emergency Program, said in Geneva on Friday that out of more than 190 people who came in contact with the two patients found infected in India, Nipah virus has not been confirmed in any of them nor have any symptoms of the disease been shown. Both the patients are admitted to the hospital and their condition is stable. He also clarified that the risk of Nipah virus spreading outside India is very low.
Reality of Bangladesh exposed
The Nipah virus, on the basis of which Bangladesh is trying to term India as an unsafe country, has been the biggest health crisis of Bangladesh. According to statistics, the mortality rate of Nipah virus there is more than 73 percent and the disease has spread to more than 35 districts. These countries, themselves struggling with infection and chaos, are daring to question India’s strong and world-class health system. Whereas Pakistan, where there is a huge shortage of even basic medicines, is exposing itself by calling India’s completely controlled situation as ‘red alert’.
Politics of anger and revenge
The script of this narrative war was written when Mustafizur Rahman was out of IPL. The fundamentalist elements of Bangladesh took this technical decision as a national insult and decided to defame India. This mentality was fueled by Pakistan’s propaganda network. Pakistan, already envious of India’s cricket diplomacy, did not want to let this opportunity go.
What do the facts say?
- India: Only 2 cases of Nipah, reports of 196 people negative; The situation is completely safe and under control.
- Bangladesh: More than 357 cases, with an average mortality rate of 73%; The world’s largest Nipah hotspot.
- Pakistan: Shabby medical system and crumbling economy, still questions on India.
- Digital Trail: 70% of anti-World Cup misleading social media posts operated from suspicious IP addresses linked to Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Attempt to target Jai Shah
The conspiracy is so well planned that now fake and misleading news is being spread on social media even about ICC Chairman Jay Shah. Through edited videos and false claims, a narrative is being created that information is being hidden. The objective is clear to create fear among the players and raise questions on India’s administrative capacity.
But the facts completely refute these rumours. The reports of all 196 people who came in contact with the two patients from Bengal have come negative, which clearly proves that there is no spread of the infection and the situation is completely under control.
