Australian Open 2026: Elena Rybakina’s struggle! Defeated Aryana Sabalenka and won the Australian Open title for the first time

Elena Rybakina is the Australian Open champion : 26-year-old Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan has done a great feat. Elena Rybakina has become the Australian Open women’s champion. Rybakina continued her old feat by winning the first set. Rybakina defeated world number one and former world champion Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in a hard-fought three-set final to clinch her second Grand Slam title.

After winning the first set, Rybakina won her 24th match. Rybakina crushed world number one, 2023 and 2024 winner and 2025 finalist Aryana Sabalenka of Belarus 6-4 in the first set. Kazakhstan’s Rybakina is seen to have a good mental advantage due to this set win.

Second Grand Slam title

World number one Sabalenka not only won the second set 6-4 but also broke serve in the third set to take a 3-0 lead. However, Rybakina won the comeback final 6–4 to claim her first Australian Open singles title. Rybakina previously won the Wimbledon title four years ago. Since then, she has only reached the Australian Open final once, in 2023.

Tennis journey tough for Rybakina…

Kazakhstan’s 26-year-old Rybakina has had a tough tennis journey. Until she was 15, she didn’t even have a personal tennis coach, until she was 18, she trained in a group with four other players. Not only this, she completed her education in a regular high school as there was no special school for athletes. This is the 12th major title of her career. But reacting after the Australian Open win, she said, “I want to thank my team. Without them this win would not have been possible. I want to thank my medical team and sponsors for making it all possible.”
