Justin Rose appears poised to pocket a rather substantial cheque this weekend at the Farmers Insurance Open. The British golfer is presently topping the leaderboard with a score of -17, whilst Seamus Power trails in second place having recorded -13.
Barring a dramatic collapse from the 45-year-old over the final two days of competition, it appears he'll secure the 13th PGA Tour victory of his career alongside the £1.2million prize money. Rose's most recent triumph came in August last year when he claimed the FedEx St Jude Championships - making him the oldest-ever European victor on the PGA Tour. He achieved this through a playoff win against J.J. Spaun, just four months after suffering a similar defeat to Rory McIlroy at the Masters.
Both players were battling for their maiden Green Jacket, but it was the Northern Irishman who prevailed to become only the sixth player in history to complete the career Grand Slam. Despite the anguish of that loss, Rose displayed characteristic grace following McIlroy's birdie by embracing his mate. It marked the third runner-up finish at Augusta for Rose, who banked a staggering £2million for finishing second.
When combining the PGA Tour and European Tour, Rose has accumulated 23 tournament victories, and with such success comes the wealth available at golf's elite level. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Rose's string of tournament successes means he has accumulated a remarkable estimated net worth of approximately £34m. The fortune he has managed to amass has been built alongside his wife Kate, whom he wed in 2006 after their lengthy relationship.
The duo first crossed paths in 2000 when she was employed at IMG, the firm that was representing her future spouse at the time. They share two children - Leo, who arrived in 2009, and Lottie, born in 2012. Much like her husband, Kate was also a talented athlete, having previously competed as an international gymnast before taking on the role of board director for the PGA Tour Wives Association between 2006 and 2010.
Whilst largely staying away from the spotlight, apart from backing Justin on the course, Kate became embroiled in controversy involving McIlroy. During the 36-year-old's Masters celebrations, he was photographed embracing a woman, sparking speculation about the identity of the 'mystery blonde'.
Nevertheless, the public were quickly informed that the woman was actually Kate Rose, and their embrace demonstrated just how close the golfers' families truly are. Rose discussed his upturn in form over the past year and confirmed he remains driven to capture the sport's most prestigious titles.
"My job is going to be the same as everybody else's job - it's just about who plays well," he told the Golf Channel. "I felt like last year was a nice step back in the right confidence direction. I felt like finishing runner-up at the Open at Troon in 2024, I felt I played the right way on Sunday and I could have won there if Lady Luck had been on my side.
"The same at the (2025) Masters - the Saturday was the round that killed me there but I played the golf to win that tournament. At the right moments I've been feeling my best. I'm chasing goals, I'm chasing Majors, I'm chasing big accomplishments but at the same time I'm trying to chase good memories."
