It is the women's singles final day at the Australian Open! Elena Rybakina beat Aryna Sabalenka on Rod Laver Arena three years on from their last meeting in Melbourne. The current world No. 1 won that final for her first Grand Slam singles title, but Rybakina got her revenge in a stunning comeback win on Saturday.
Rybakina reached her first final since 2023 by beating Jessica Pegula in the semi-finals and neither player had dropped a single set before entering the final. However, both of their perfect records fell, when Rybakina took the first set and Sabalenka rallied back to tie with the second. Sabalenka built up a 3-0 lead in the decider, but Rybakina rallied to win 6-4 and kickstart her celebrations, claiming a first career Australian Open title, adding to her Wimbledon win in 2022.
